[Houston, Texas July 2018] –Sweet memories of childhood back home were rekindled while many reconnected to their core Igbo roots recently when Houston played host to women of Nigeria’s Igbo heritage in the United States of America.

Under the umbrella body, Umuada Igbo Association, women of Igbo extraction from the seven Igbo speaking the Nigerian States of Anambra, Imo, Ebonyi, Enugu, Abia, Rivers and Delta trooped into Houston from across the globe to felicitate and participate in the group’s first international convention.

The three-day event which held at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Houston on Saturday July 7, 2018 created a unique platform for Igbo women from across the globe to meet, greet and dine as true Umuada should. It also afforded the women a platform to discuss pertinent issues concerning the welfare and development of their fellow Umuada and the entire Igbo society in Nigeria.

Founder and grand patron of Umuada Igbo Organization, Ezenwanyi Lady Bridget Akazie in an address at the event said the group which is registered in the United States as a non-profit and Non-Governmental Organization seeks to promote and propagate the Igbo language, culture and tradition.
